Advanced Obedience Training
Obedience Class Schedule Effective August 2020

Notice: Due to the ongoing requirements of the Covid-19 pandemic, we are offering a limited set of classes at this time. For the same reasons, the class schedule will remain fluid in the foreseeable future. We will make every attempt to keep students and members informed of changes, but please be patient with us as we go forward, hopefully returning to the robust and stable class schedule we had in the recent past.

Novice
This class is the third level of pet training and starting point for entry level showing. For pet owners, this class will help you become “that team” you may have admired at social settings. For those desiring to participate in the sport of obedience showing, this is where you get down to business. The instructor will not only help you prepare your dog for showing but will help you become an extremely polished dog handler. What you learn in this class will be the foundation needed to compete effectively at all levels no matter what you desire to accomplish.

Cost
$100 for 10 week block or $12 per class walk-in.

Beginning Open
Beginning Open class is taught periodically when there is sufficient student interest. A list is posted for students to sign up and they will be notified when there are enough students to start a class. You may add your name to this list by contacting us at obedience@spdtc.com. We work on advanced heeling, figure 8’s and stays, and other skills such as jumping and drop on recall in a more intimate setting to learn these new exercises at their own speed and with no pressure.

Cost
$100 for 10 week block or $12 per class walk-in.

Open
Open class moves on to more advanced heeling skills, adding jumping, retrieving, and controlling your dog from a distance to eliminate failures in the ring. This class suits the pet owner to enhance their skills with retrieving and advanced off leash heeling, and the handler wanting to achieve a Companion Dog Excellent title. The instructor applies thought provoking and fresh ideas along with tried and true methods.  Whether you’re working with another school and trainer or just moving up, this class will help you attain the high level of competiveness you desire.

Cost
$100 for 10 week block or $12 per class walk-in.

Beginning Utility Class
Beginning Utility is taught when there is enough interest to warrant a session. This class is for students just learning the skills needed to compete at the AKC Utility level. For more information or to be added to an upcoming list please contact obedience@spdtc.com

Cost
$100 for 10 week block or $12 per class walk-in.

Utility Class
This class is for students of all levels including beginning work on Utility level exercises, having issues with exercises, or for students wanting to perfect their skills. The goal of the class is to help students prepare to show in the Utility ring by working on solutions to problems handlers may be experiencing at all levels in attempting to attain their UD or UDX obedience titles. The instructor will present many new ideas for getting ready to show and to reinforce handling skills for consistent success in the show ring.

Cost
$100 for a 10 week block or $12 per class walk-in
