Volunteer Information
St Paul Dog Training Club is a volunteer organization; volunteer commitment to the club is part of the eligibility requirements for receiving awards. Club members are encouraged to volunteer for at least two (2) club activities during the year, however, volunteering is not required to earn awards.
Examples of club activities:
- Obedience/Rally/ Agility Trials or matches
- Seminars
- Clean Up Days
- Building or Equipment Projects
- Other Projects or Events
If you have a talent, skills, or professional expertise for projects that are planned (or unplanned) in the training facility, please volunteer! For example, the Club currently has a Master Electrician within the membership who is helping to implement a lighting renovation that provides a far more energy-efficient lighting system. This type of leadership not only helps the environment but helps to keep cost(s) down for the entire Club!
If you cannot donate your time and skills, perhaps you can assist with in-kind contributions.
Currently we have some minor heating and cooling issues, plumbing concerns and painting planned as weather permits.
Volunteer to earn free advanced classes!
SPDTC is now offering free advanced classes to anyone interested in helping at the club’s obedience shows. We hold two training sessions a year in the spring and fall to familiarize volunteers with the requirements needed to help steward. The class is taught by a judge on a Friday night and lasts about an hour. Students then practice in the mat area helping at our Run-Thru events until they feel comfortable enough to steward, normally about a half hour, at which time your name is placed on our call list. Anyone who stewards will receive a free advanced class of their choice for each show they volunteer their time for plus a free meal. For those that are already stewards we still reward your service with the same entitlements. If interested, contact Obedience@spdtc.com for information about upcoming training sessions or shows.
